A good place to start is by going to each toilet in the home and flushing it. Observe the amount of time it takes for the tank to fill back up again after each flush. Does it take a long time? This could be an indication that the toilet is not functioning properly. In the same way, if the toilet takes a long time to flush, there may also be a problem with it.
Another common problem you may find is that water is constantly running into the toilet. Although you might not think this is an issue, a constantly running toilet will waste a lot of water and could end up costing you money. If you have a private well it may also damage the pump.
Chips or cracks can form is the porcelain of the toilet bowl. Have a check to see this is not the case with any toilets in your home. If we find this happening in any of the toilets we inspect, we have to list it as faulty so you can see it is not something to ignore.
Your home's toilets should be given the maintenance they deserve, especially when you consider that a person will flush the toilet approximately 2500 times a year. That’s a lot of use in an average household.
